The Central Academy Strangelet Quest is one of two quests that you have to complete in step 9 of The Edge of Fate. This contains the missions Fallow and Nostos, which you'll complete to obtain the Rosetta mechanic for use in Kepler, and the Commencement story mission.
This mission takes place in the Central Academy region of Kepler, and has you working with the Aionians to help them take control of the region back from the hostile races that have made their way to Kepler.
Quest Guide
1. Locate the Emeritus in the Aionian Campus within the Central Academy.
To progress this quest, you’ll need to head to the Central Academy. To unlock this location, head towards it on the map, and interact with the terminal in front of the barrier.
Continue on through to meet with the Emeritus.
2. Rescue Aionian Scientists and obtain the Acceleron.
To carry on forward to the quest marker, you’ll need to unlock a door with an Aionian Terminal. To unlock the terminal, destroy the glowing Rosetta Frequency next to the door.
Keep heading further into the Central Academy, using Matterspark to squeeze your way around. You’ll approach a room with a large Servitor boss. Begin damaging the boss.
Halfway through its health, smaller servitors will spawn around it. Kill those servitors to resume damage and kill the boss.
Head towards the barriered door to the right to free the Aionians and claim your reward.
3. Let the Emeritus know that you have saved his researchers.
Follow the waypoint to return back to the Emeritus. He’ll give you your next mission, the “Fallow” mission.
4. Complete the “Fallow” Mission
To progress this quest, you’ll have to complete the Fallow mission, for which we have a guide down below in this article. Traverse through the Central Academy to find the mission.
5. Update the Emeritus
Once you’ve completed the mission, you’ll spawn next to the Emeritus. Talk to him.
6. Speak with Dean Rebecca.
Head around the corner to find Dean Rebecca, and update her on your findings to unlock the next mission, “Nostos”.
7. Complete the "Nostos" Mission
After speaking to Dean Rebecca, turn around to find the transporter for the Nostos mission, which you’ll have to complete to continue forward. Read our guide below on how to solve Nostos.
8. Consult the Emeritus
Return to the Emeritus once more and update him on your findings.
9. Consult Dean Rebecca
Approach Dean Rebecca, who will thank you for your help, and grant you access to the last mission of The Central Academy Strangelet quest line.
10. Defeat the Conductor's Vex and claim the Strangelet Capsule.
The Commencement mission is the final mission you have to complete to obtain the Central Academy Strangelet. Read our guide below, at the bottom of this page.
Fallow Mission Guide
Launch into the mission, and head into the train.
Once you’re out the other side, head into the room and interact with the Matterspark pad. Go back near the train and roll into the broken vent.
Continue forward, slaying enemies as you go.
Within the next room, kill the Minotaur to unlock a frequency cube. Shoot it to reveal a Matterspark tunnel.
Head inside, being careful not to fall into the yellow Radiolaria, and jump up into the barriered room. Destroy the Rosetta Frequency.
Interact with the terminal next to the door to continue forward until you reach a room flooded with Radiolaria.
To complete this step, you’ll have to retrieve three food caches. For each cache, kill the minotaur to unlock the frequency cube.
Break it to interact with the cache.
To retrieve the final cache, you’ll have to kill the final boss. Rally up and start the encounter.
You’ll enter darkness mode, and the 'DEVASTATOR MIND' boss will spawn. Begin damage.
To lower the boss’s shield, on one side of the room a Minotaur, Frequency Cube, and a Rosetta Frequency will spawn.
Kill the Minotaur to break the Frequency cube.
This will spawn a Matterspark tunnel. Transform into Matterspark and head inside. Break the Rosetta Frequency. This will begin damage.
Repeat those steps once more on the opposite side of the room to complete the encounter.
Once the boss is dead, head to the far right corner of the room, and interact with the terminal to receive Rosetta II.
Head back to the food cache at the back and interact with the terminal to complete the mission.
Nostos Mission Guide
Once you spawn into the mission, head through the train.
Once you exit the other side, follow the rocky path forward, and head into Matterspark.
To progress forward, you’ll have to kill Eliksni whilst in Matterspark form to generate motes. Deposit 5 of these at the back of the room to lower the barrier.
Keep moving forward, slaying enemies as you go. Rally up to begin the encounter.
To lower the boss’s shield, first enter Matterspark mode and generate 10 motes. These can be deposited in the back of the room.
The second time, two mines will spawn at the opposite end of the room. Stand inside each mine's zone to defuse the bombs while slaying out enemies.
Once both bombs are defused, kill the boss to claim your rewards and end the mission.
Commencement Mission Guide
As you enter the mission, head forward towards the locked door.
Destroy the Rosetta Frequency and interact with the terminal to open the door and continue through.
As you traverse further, you’ll come across a dark room covered in traps. Walk around the other side of the red pole and jump up onto the grills.
Look up to the right to see a shelf. Jump in front of it and hug the wall to walk past the lasers and continue up around the room.
Shoot the vent to break it and find a Matterspark pad. Go into Matterspark and head back out to find a Matterspark tunnel. Head through it to progress forward into the Laboratory.
Slay out the enemies in the next room, including a Vex Cyclops to gain access to an Aionian Terminal. Interact with it to continue.
Head into Matterspark to enter a tunnel, which will take you back where we first began the mission. Kill the Vex and head to the other side of the room.
You’ll find two frequency cubes protecting two Rosetta Frequencies. Destroy both cubes to break the Rosetta Frequencies.
Head to the terminal in the middle to open the door and progress through.
As you continue round the rocky roads, you’ll come across a new object- a Vex Pylon. Enter Matterspark and attack the pylon until it locks, which will open the next door.
In this next room, a Hydra miniboss will spawn.
To lower the Hydra’s shields, there will be 2 minotaurs protecting frequency cubes. Kill the minotaurs to expose the cubes, and shoot them to expose two Rosetta Frequencies. Break them to resume damage.
Once you’ve killed the boss, claim your rewards. Interact with the terminal next to the chest to open the door and continue through.
Continue forward to the Ritual Site, slaying enemies as you go.
Within the next room, there will be 3 Vex Pylons around the room to charge. Enter Matterspark and charge all three to expose a Vex Node in the centre of the room. Break it to open your next pathway through.
Continue forward. After your interaction with the Conductor, enter the next room and rally up to start the final encounter.
For this encounter, you’ll have to defeat a boss named “Phydron, Gate Lord”.
Once his shields come up, you’ll have to enter Matterspark mode and charge two Vex Pylons located at the back of the room, protecting a Vex Node.
Once both are charged, shatter the Vex Node in the middle to resume damage.
For the second shield phase, you’ll find two more Vex Pylons protecting a Vex Node. This time, they’re being protected by a Minotaur and a frequency cube. Kill the Gravity-baned Minotaur to present the cube.
Break the cube to open the Pylon, and repeat on the other side.
Once both are exposed, enter Matterspark mode and charge the pylons. Once charged, shoot the Vex Node to resume damage.
After having killed the Gate Lord, your chest will be at the back of the room alongside the Strangelet Capsule, marking the end of The Central Academy Strangelet questline.
