Orin Side Quests Guide (The Edge of Fate)

Orin has a few cool sidequests to complete alongside the campaign in The Edge of Fate. Find out more about them in this article.

Orin, formerly the Emissary, is one of the main characters of The Edge of Fate, and her side quests are a great way to help her in the world of Kepler, and to find out more about her new motivations and thoughts after leaving the IX. On top of this, you can also get your hands on some extra loot for your troubles.

There are four total quests, Sacred Emergence, The Paper Crane, Transfer of Power, and Skylines, each of which you'll be able to get a few extra rewards from. With these, you can complete them whenever they pop up, or you can wait until you get to the end of the main campaign to tackle them, depending on your preference.

Sacred Emergence

To start this quest, you'll need to head to the Outer Steppes and into the Outer Wastes. From the Fast Travel location, head forward, and then underneath the cliff-face to find a Matterspark tunnel.

Enter inside to find Orin's old Emissary body lying on the floor (and a collectible to retrieve.) Interact with her to begin the quest.

1. Continue helping Orin recover fragments of herself across Kepler

For this quest, you'll be traversing around Kepler, finding molted bodies of the old Emissary to recover pieces of Orin's past. You'll need to head to the Central Academy, the Exile's Accord and the Outer Wastes to retrieve these.

For the Central Academy molt, use the fast travel point and continue onwards through the area. You'll come out where the Mission: Nostos and Mission: Fallow nodes are located.

You'll find Orin's Molt on the floor next to the first train. Interact with it, and continue forward to the next area.

For the Exile's Accord Molt, fast travel to the Curtilage Divide and traverse forward. You'll have to use the Relocator Cannon and Matterspark to reach the location. Once you arrive at the waypoint, the Molt will be locked behind a barrier, with Eliksni Dregs focusing on the body.

You'll have to disable the barrier to get inside. By using Mattermorph and the Relocator Cannon, you'll be able to send a Relocator signal and create a portal, which will let you disable the barriers.

Eliminate the House of Exile once you're inside, and you'll find the Molt, alongside another collectible.

For the Outer Wastes Molt, fast travel to the Outer Steppes and traverse onward, using Mattermorph to make your way through.

You can find Orin's Molt lying on a ledge next to a building.

2. Find Orin

For the next step, you'll need to go find Orin in The Gorge and speak with her about your next steps to uncover her past.

3. Track down the remnants of Orin's Ghost, Gol

To uncover a missing part of her memory, Orin wants you to track down the remains of her Ghost, Gol.

This can be found in the Assimilated Easement. Turn around and head towards the Mission: Calculus node, and an invading Vex party will spawn.

Eliminate them, and you'll find the Ghost lying atop the Mattermorph moss.

The Paper Crane

To start this quest, you'll need to head to the Gorge. Traverse forward through the Vex area until you come acoss a blue chasm.

You'll find an interact circle next to it, where you can begin the quest.

1. Investigate a nearby Radiolaria pool with strange dark matter signatures

Orin and Drifter want to present something they've noticed. You'll have to head to the other side of the Assimilated Easement to find the Radiolaria pool.

Fast travel back to The Gorge, and head forward. Eliminate the Choral Vex in the area, and jump down to find the Radiolaria pool.

2. Destroy the Vex Ambush to find what secrets they're guarding

After interacting with the Radiolaria pool, you'll alert the Vex, summoning a swarm to your location. Eliminate them to continue forward.

3. Search the Caldera for a dark matter lifeform

Ikora suspects there may be a lifeform hidden in Kepler that is feeding off of the dark matter. You'll need to investigate the Caldera for any signs.

Head outwards from the Altar and directly towards the mountain. Up top, you'll find a small bunch of flowers. Pick them up to progress onwards.

4. Search The Stacks for dark matter traces

Ghost has recognised many traces of Dark Matter within The Stacks. You'll have to travel there to investigate them. To get to the waypoint, travel in by foot from the Caldera, as you may be soft-locked behind a barrier if you approach from the fast travel point in The Stacks.

Continue forward through the train, then head underneath the hole to progress onward. Use the Relocator Cannon to make your way into the area.

In this area, you'll need to clear out the room of House of Exile enemies to continue. After this, a Brig will spawn in the center. Eliminating it is not required to continue the quest, but is recommended, as the Brig may cause a problem as you interact with this step of the quest.

You can find the Dark Matter signal to the back of the room, on top of a ledge.

5. Locate the nearby Shrine to Failure

For the final step, you'll need to locate the Shrine to Failure that the Aionians placed in the center of The Stacks.

Traverse your way forward into the open area to find and interact with it, which will complete this quest.

Transfer of Power

To locate this quest, fast travel to the The Gorge.

Traverse through the Assimilated Easement and into The Stellar Sink to find Orin waiting for you. Interact with her to begin the quest.

1. Defeat Vex in the area to collect radiolaria specimens

For this quest, Orin wants your help in exposing Lodi to the reality of being an Emissary. In this step, you'll need to head to three areas in The Stellar Sink and defeat Vex to collect specimens.

The first and second Vex Specimens can be found in the room infront of you. Destroy both Wyverns and claim the Radiolaria specimens they drop.

The third specimen can be found by heading through the opposite doorway. Continue forward to find the third Wyvern, and eliminate it to claim the Radiolaria specimen.

2. Plant the Temporal Beacon

For this step, you'll need to plant a Beacon to let Orin display something important to Lodi.

Head back to the first room, and in the center you'll see an interact pad. Plant the Temporal Beacon to continue.

3. Answer Orin's call

For this step, walk back to where you first spoke to Orin. She'll call your Ghost. Pick up the call to progress.

4. Clear out the Conductor's Vex

Your attempts to help Orin have called the Conductor's Vex to your location. You'll need to find them and clear them out to continue.

You'll find the Choral Vex in the Outer Wastes. Fast travel to the Outer Steppes and traverse forward to find the ambush brawling with a group of House of Exile. Eliminate all the enemies in the area to continue.

5. Return to Orin

Once the enemies have been cleared, Orin will spawn by the mesh wall. Speak with her to complete the quest.

Skylines

To start this quest, you'll need to head to The Stellar Sink. Fast travel to The Gorge and traverse forward using Matterspark to enter the area.

Interact with the signal beacon to start the quest.

1. Find Lodi before the Vex do

When you start this quest, Orin recalls a fight she had with Lodi, where he stormed off. She's asked you to go and find him. The first search area is far within the Outer Wastes.

Fast Travel to the Outer Steppes and traverse forward through the rooms of the Reactor. You'll come across a group of Choral Vex, next to a telescope. Eliminate them to continue.

2. Scan the Telescope for clues

Lodi is nowhere to be seen, however Ghost recognises a faint signature on the Telescope. Walk up to it and interact with it to continue.

3. Starting at the North Star, Outline the constellation Ursa Major

After interacting, Lodi will re-appear, mentioning he was just wanting to look at the stars to clear his head before the Vex arrived. He asks you to look towards the North star. Interact with the node next to you to Reveal the Message.

Look upwards to the sky, and that same node will reappear as a star. Shoot it to summon more stars, and draw out the Ursa Major constellation.

4. Outline the constellation Orion, the Hunter

You'll need to repeat these steps again for another constellation, Orion, the Hunter. Interact with the star to reveal the message, and shoot the stars far away to build the constellation.

5. Consult Orin to give her an update

Orin reaches out to you for an update on the situation. Head back into the doorway you came from, and you'll receive a call from her. Answer it to complete the mission.
