Arms Week is here, and is one of the new events that has come with The Edge of Fate and the Season of Reclamation. With this, there's a ton of fun to be had, and to enjoy Hand Cannons as the theme, with a new Spread Shot Hand Cannon available to be able to access.
On top of this, there's a dedicated Hardware Mix in the Crucible, meaning that you can play barebones PvP to your liking to be able to work towards the juicy Arms Week loot. Ultimately, there are two new weapons to collect, both of which have holofoil variants as well, as well as a new title to gild.
In this article, we're going to go over Arms Week and how it works, so you know exactly what you need to do going into Destiny this week to be able to not only have fun during the event, but also get the most out of it.
What is Arms Week?
Overview

Arms Week is a week-long event focusing on a specific weapon archetype each time it comes around. You'll be able to earn new Tier-3 guns, which have a rare chance of dropping as a 'shiny holo-foil', alongside a set of Legacy guns, and powerful archetype-specific 'Volatile Weapon' mods to use in the battlefield.
For the first week, from July 29th - August 5th, the featured weapon archetype is Hand Cannons, so be sure to keep your favorite Hand Cannon (that Rose roll from Banshee is looking real good right now) with you at all times during this week.
Accessing Arms Week

To access Arms Week, you'll need to speak to Ada-1; Not in her usual location in the Tower, but in the all-new Shooting Range. Here, you can claim your Volatile Weapon mods, alongside weapon focusing by spending the Combat Telemetry Event currency. When visiting Ada for the first time, you'll begin to work through the introductory quest Initial Calibration to unlock all three Volatile Weapon mods.
Alongside the event comes a limited-time Crucible mode Arms Week: Hardware. The Hardware modifier means no Supers or abilities are allowed on the battlefield; Weapons Only, giving you the perfect opportunity to test your gun-play skills. As it's Arms Week, you'll be able to use your Volatile Weapon modded guns within this 6v6 game mode.
In this event, we also see the re-introduction of the Event Home, which you can access from The Portal. In the Home, you'll be able to access your Daily and Weekly Event Challenges alongside your Event Rank rewards pass, easily access the Shooting Range and Arms Week: Hardware, use your Event Tokens in the Rewards Shop, and keep an eye on your progress towards the 'Sharpshooter' title, the new title for Arms Week.
Although Arms Week will be back in the future, it may be a while until Hand Cannons are the focus again, so be sure to log on if you'd like to receive the available rewards!
Rewards

The Arms Week Event has quite a few rewards worthy of earning, including two Holo-foil weapons entirely for free.
- Enhancement Core
- Arms Week Engram
- Reroll Chip
- Enhancement Prism
- 'Armsmaster' Emblem
- Nine Strange Coins
- Two Enhancement Prisms
- Reroll Chip
- Five Enhancement Cores

Arms Week Engrams
Arms Week Engrams can be obtained through the Event Pass, Rewards Shop and as random drops from completing Hardware matches. They will contain one of the four weapons:
- Phoneutria Fera
- Ribbontail
- Phoneutria Fera (Holofoil)
- Ribbontail (Holofoil)
Phoneutria Fera

Type: Hand Cannon
Ammo Type: Primary
Element: Solar
Frame: Spread Shot
God Roll: Threat Detector + One-Two Punch/Incandescent
Phoneutria Fera is one of the new Spread Shot Hand Cannons, which means that it acts more like a Shotgun in practice. While it's the worse of the two introduced (the other being the Trials one, Aureus Neutralizer), it still has some use if you want to get your hands on a Kinetic with One-Two Punch without playing Trials.
On top of this, Incandescent is definitely interesting, but no great first-slot perk means that this maybe isn't ideal for an ad-clear Hand Cannon in the long run.
Ribbontail

Type: Trace Rife
Ammo Type: Special
Element: Strand
Frame: Adaptive
God Roll: Envious Arsenal/Subsistence + Detonator Beam/Killing Tally
This is a very underwhelming Trace Rifle. No Shoot-to-Loot, plus a perk pool that is outmatched by the Sundered Doctrine Trace, Unsworn, means that this Trace Rifle is just fully outclassed on all levels. The best fourth-slot perk is Detonator Beam, but there's zero synergy as both Envious Arsenal and Subsistence mean that you have to stop triggering Detonator Beam.
Volatile Weapon Mods
During the event, you'll be able to unlock three different Volatile Weapon Mods, which can be inserted into your Hand Cannon of choice to give it some extra perks. These mods will only be available during Arms Week, and will fizzle afterwards, so have your fun with them while you can!
- Chaotic Munitions: Precision final blows produce randomized effects.
- Cowboy Grip: Supremely improved hip-fire weapon performance.
- Fragmentation Rounds: Precision final blows create multiple explosive submunitions.
These effects are disabled in the New raid, The Desert Perpetual, and in the Crucible; apart from in the featured Arms Week: Hardware game mode.
Rewards Shop

The Rewards Shop has quite a few goodies for sale this time around, making this event a great choice for if you're low on Materials, or just want to grind out some great loot.
- Glimmer: 1 Event Token
- Pile of Glimmer: 5 Event Tokens
- Large Pile of Glimmer: 25 Event Tokens
- Enhancement Core: 7 Event Tokens
- Five Enhancement Cores: 35 Event Tokens
- Ascendant Alloy: 60 Event Tokens
- Enhancement Prism: 75 Event Tokens
- Arms Week Engram: 75 Event Tokens
- Ribbontail Trace Rifle: 100 Event Tokens
- Phoneutria Fera Hand Cannon: 100 Event Tokens
- Exotic Cipher: 300 Event Tokens
- Ascendant Shard: 300 Event Tokens
- Reroll Chip: 100 Silver
- Three Reroll Chips: 200 Silver
When purchasing any of the Weapons from the Reward Shop, although they drop with randomized perks, bear in mind that the Reward Tier of the weapon directly correlates to your Guardian Rank, up to a maximum of Tier 4. You'll be able to see your estimated Reward Tier in the top right corner of the Weapon pop-up before purchasing.
You'll also have a purchase limit on many of the options in the store, which you can see by the 'In Stock' indicator, so make sure to spend wisely.
Sharpshooter Title

To obtain the Arms Week title, Sharpshooter, you'll have to complete four challenges:
- Ephemeral Arsenal: Collect all 3 Arms Week Volatile Weapon mods.
- Within Scope: Deal 270 final blows with weapons equipped with a Volatile Mod.
- Ada's Anarchy: Complete Arms Week: Hardware matches. Wins grant additional progress.
- Rushed Recoil: Complete all 15 levels of the Arms Week event rewards track.
You can also Gild this title, with gilding available each new Arms Week. To guild the title, complete these four extra challenges:
- Terribly Modish: Defeat 200 enemies with weapons with Arms Week Volatile mods equipped. Portal activities grant bonus progress.
- Aimed to Please: Win 10 Arms Week: Hardware matches.
- Right on Target: Achieve an A grade in a Fireteam or Pinnacle ops with a Arms Week Volatile modded weapon equipped.
- Gun-believable: Complete a Dungeon, Raid or Master Portal activity with an Arms Week Volatile modded weapon equipped.
Closing Time
Arms Week is a really fun event, and it's exciting to see how they'll progress it as time goes on. Even though Hand Cannons are currently the focus, this isn't the last time we'll see this event, so there's a lot to look forward to in the future. But otherwise, get out your favourite Hand Cannons, and start earning loot and working towards that title. After all, we don't know how long it'll be until you can next get it.
