Last-Minute Prep for The Edge of Fate: Vaulted Content and Weapons

The Edge of Fate is quickly approaching. Read this guide to find out everything you need to do before The Edge of Fate releases on Tuesday.

The Edge of Fate is less than a week away, and we're on the final weekend before the expansion releases. With this, there's a huge number of things that you'll need to do before they go away with the annual content vault and expansion release, in which a ton of seasonal content will be vaulted, which means that if you want something, you'll need to make sure to get it done now.

Don't fear, though. A lot of it is just tying up loose ends and getting any gear that you might need, and if you don't plan on doing The Desert Perpetual Contest Mode this is nowhere near as immediate as it may be if you were. But, if you do want seasonal weapons, and want to be able to make sure that you aren't going into next season leaving anything behind, making sure that you've got everything before reset on Tuesday will be imperative.

In this guide, we're going to go over everything you need to do in preparation this weekend, as a last minute emergency checklist to make sure that you don't go into next expansion missing anything you may want. We won't go over things like bounty prepping as it's far too close, but instead we'll just take a look at the things you won't be able to do come next week.

What Content is Entering the Destiny Content Vault?

The Destiny Content Vault is the place where Bungie puts content that they want to remove from the game. With this, a ton of this year's seasonal content will generally become unavailable, and so you'll need to make sure that you've got everything you want from them before they leave. These weapons won't necessarily become unavailable, per se, but they will definitely become more difficult to obtain in the future.

Destinations:

  • The Last City (And all seasonal hubs inside of it)
  • Eternity (For Rite of the Nine)

Activities:

  • Arena: Breach Executable
  • Enigma Protocol
  • Tomb/Contest of Elders
  • Kell's Vengeance
  • The Nether
  • Court of Blades

(These activities may be added to the portal later)

Vendors:

  • Failsafe
  • Apothecary Eido
  • Tonic Table
  • Shaping Slab
  • The Emissary

All of the weapons from Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy will be added to Xur's strange loot pool, but it'll be an inconsistent way of getting hold of the weapons that you want in the future, especially with the weapons that don't have crafting available. Rite of the Nine seems to be completely going away, though a lot of players are hoping that the regular versions of each dungeon will be updated with their Rite of the Nine variants, at the very least.

Edge of Fate Gear Checklist

Legendary Weapons

Since Legendary weapons are headed over to Xur from seasonal activities, making sure that you have all of the weapons that you need from the season before it ends will be important if you don't want to hunt them down from random rolls or wait for them to arrive in his offerings.

Here's a list of the weapons from each season you should definitely get a hold of.

Episode: Echoes

Episode: Echoes has red borders, and so making sure that you have red borders for each of the weapons before the season ends is a good idea. A lot of people already have these crafted weapons, and so if you have the pattern unlocked you're good.

Aberrant Action, Lost Signal, and Chronophage are the three best weapons to get from The Edge of Fate, so make sure you have these weapons crafted. However, there will be another Solar Rocket Sidearm when the expansion arrives, so if you don't have Aberrant Action it isn't the end of the world (though, that weapon may not live up to the high standards of Aberrant Action, we'll have to see).

Episode: Revenant

Episode: Revenant has no crafted weapons, and so making sure that you have the rolls that you want from here on is going to be essential. There's a few guns that you should consider grabbing a roll of if you want them before they go, and to do so you just need to craft that tonic and put it on while doing an activity (or, for more rewards, play Onslaught: Salvation and Tomb/Contest of Elders).

  • Bitter/Sweet: Envious Arsenal + Bait and Switch (especially if you don't have the V/S Chill Inhibitor from Vesper's Host)
  • Liturgy: Envious Arsenal + Chill Clip
  • Insurmountable: Attrition Orbs/Demolitionist + Destabilising Rounds
  • Gridskipper: Repulsor Brace/Demolitionist + Destabilising Rounds

Episode: Heresy

Just like Revenant, Episode: Heresy has no crafted weapons, and so you'll need to farm for the rolls you want. With this, you can use the Shaping Slab for loot as you go about playing other things, or you can easily farm Nether or Court of Blades for extra loot.

  • Psychopomp: Envious Arsenal + Elemental Honing AND Ambitious Assassin + Roiling Storm
  • Adamantite: Reciprocity + Elemental Honing/Attrition Orbs
  • Watchful Eye: Overflow + Jolting Feedback

Rite of the Nine

Rite of the Nine will also be leaving, and so make sure to grab the weapons from the three dungeons will also be imperative. It's difficult to say whether these will be returning in any form and so as of right now, this is the only way to get them. Here are a few of the essential guns to grab, but otherwise check out our Tier Lists to see where the rest of the weapons rank.

  • A Sudden Death (Prophecy): One Two Punch/Discord + Trench Barrel/Redirection
  • Cold Comfort (Ghosts of the Deep): Envious Arsenal + Elemental Honing/Bait and Switch
  • Wilderflight (Spire of the Watcher): Envious Arsenal + Bait and Switch
  • Terminus Horizon (Spire of the Watcher): Reconstruction + Jolting Feedback

Exotic Weapons

All three of the Exotic Weapon quests (Encore, Kell's Fall, and Derealize) are leaving with DCV, but are assumed to be entering the Exotic Rotator, and so you won't be without these if you do miss them. But, if you want them going into The Edge of Fate, make sure to both obtain the exotic and upgrade it before Tuesday.

To obtain Choir of One and Slayer's Fang, you'll need to get to Act 3 of their respective episodes, whereas Barrow-Dyad is obtainable in Act 1 of Heresy (but is much harder to complete).

Armor

Armor is getting a huge rework in The Edge of Fate, and with that is a huge stat change. These changes are incredibly complex, but to put it simply, Armor is now going to roll with two 'spiked' perks in a pre-determined combination (for example, Bulwark armor will have stats in Health and Class).

TypePrimarySecondary
BulwarkHealthClass
GunnerWeaponsGrenade
SpecialistClassWeapons
ParagonSuperMelee
BrawlerMeleeHealth
GrenadierGrenadeSuper

However, not all stats will be accounted for. The main one here is Weapons + Super, which doesn't have a combination under the new system. This is going to be a sought after combination, and so you'll want as high stats as possible in those two columns (stats now go up to 200).

The way to do this is by rolling your current armor, to hit these stats. So, put on a Mobility Armorer Mod on your Ghost and head to Failsafe, and roll any loose engrams. Mobility will transfer 1:1 to Weapons in the next expansion, as will Intellect and Super, and so you're looking for rolls with incredibly high stats in Mobility and Intellect.

Make sure to spend those Failsafe engrams too, as they will be gone come Tuesday! This is a great way to spend them if you already have everything else you need within the expansion.

Closing Time

There's a lot that's leaving with The Edge of Fate, and so making sure that you've done everything you require is going to be paramount to succeeding. So, make sure you have everything you need, and that you spend all of your seasonal currency and engrams before those vendors go away next week.

If you're looking for the best coverage going into The Edge of Fate, we're here to make sure that you have everything you need along the way. Whether it's prepping for the new raid, completing the story, or even just exploring Kepler, we'll have guides and articles going up all week about everything you need to know.

In any case, thank you for reading, and see you in Old Chicago.
